Tour Overview

Why you'll love this tour

The Cape Highlights Explorer is a big, beautiful full-day route for travellers who want to see as much of the Cape as possible in one well-planned day. It links the Peninsula coastline, Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope, the penguins at Boulders Beach and a taste of the Stellenbosch Winelands.

Expect ocean roads, mountain views, wild coastal scenery, characterful towns and a relaxed wine-country finish, all without having to work out the route yourself. It is a great choice if you have limited time in Cape Town but still want the day to feel rich, varied and properly memorable.

Because this tour covers two very different sides of the Cape, the pace is naturally full. Your guide will keep the day flowing sensibly, shaping the order around weather, traffic and timing so it feels exciting rather than rushed.

Trip Itinerary

We’ll collect you from your Cape Town accommodation in the morning and head out along the Atlantic Seaboard. Enjoy wide views over Clifton’s white sands and Camps Bay’s palm-lined beach, with Table Mountain as the backdrop — the perfect opening to your day.

Next we arrive in Hout Bay, a picturesque fishing village with a bustling harbour and sweeping ocean views. From here we continue along Chapman’s Peak Drive, a cliff-hanging ribbon of road that offers some of the most spectacular coastal panoramas in the region.

At the southwestern tip of the peninsula, you’ll explore the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where dramatic headlands and wild landscapes meet the seas. This is a quintessential Cape moment — rugged, memorable and rich with natural beauty.

After this, we head to Simon’s Town, a seaside settlement with colonial charm. Nearby Boulders Beach is home to a colony of African penguins — a chance to see these charismatic birds ambling among granite boulders and even swimming in sheltered coves.

From the coast we travel inland to the historic wine town of Stellenbosch, where you’ll visit a renowned estate for a guided cellar tour and a tasting of locally-produced wines paired with artisan cheeses — the perfect way to round out your day. We’ll then return you to Cape Town in the early evening, leaving you with memories of ocean horizons, vineyard valleys and plenty of great stories to share.

Tour Questions

It is a busy full day, but it works when paced well. If you prefer slow travel or longer stops, we may recommend choosing either the Peninsula tour or the Winelands tour instead.

The tour usually includes time for a focused tasting in the Stellenbosch area. The exact estate and tasting format depend on timing, availability and your interests.

Yes. Because this is private, your guide can help you prioritise the stops that matter most, especially if weather or traffic changes the day.

We usually collect from hotels and guesthouses in central Cape Town and nearby areas. If you are staying further out, we will confirm the most practical pickup point when you enquire.
