Tour Overview

Why you'll love this tour

The Peninsula & Penguins Full-Day Adventure is one of Cape Town’s great full-day journeys: ocean roads, mountain passes, seaside villages, wild viewpoints and the dramatic sweep of Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope.

The day includes time for big coastal scenery, nature reserve landscapes and Boulders Beach, where the African penguins are one of the Cape’s most memorable wildlife encounters. It is a full day out, but the experience works best when the pace feels thoughtful rather than rushed.

This is a wonderful choice if you want one day that captures Cape Town’s relationship with the sea. Your guide can shape the order around weather, road conditions and your interests, whether that means more photography, short walks, penguin time or a slower lunch stop.

Trip Itinerary

We’ll pick you up from your Cape Town accommodation and set off south along the stunning Atlantic Seaboard. Your first glimpses will be of Clifton and Camps Bay’s pristine beaches and dramatic mountain backdrop — the perfect warm-up for the incredible coastal scenery ahead.

Next stop is Hout Bay, a lively harbour village where you can stretch your legs and take in sea air. If you choose, we can add a short boat trip to Seal Island to see thousands of playful Cape fur seals in their natural environment.

From there we’ll follow one of the world’s most scenic roads — Chapman’s Peak Drive — hugging towering cliffs and offering sweeping ocean views at every turn. Perfect for photos and that “pinch me” moment.

At the southern tip of the peninsula, you’ll have time to explore Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope — dramatic headlands where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans collide. Here the scenery, wildlife and history come together in one memorable natural theatre.

We’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch in Simon’s Town, a charming naval town with historic character and seaside charm. This is a great opportunity to enjoy local flavours and walk along the harbour before the afternoon adventures continue.

One of the day’s highlights awaits at Boulders Beach, home to thousands of African penguins that live and play on its sandy coves. You can watch them up close from boardwalks — and even swim nearby if you’re feeling brave!

On our journey back, we’ll drive past iconic surf spots like Muizenberg with its colourful beach huts and panoramic views of False Bay before returning you to your accommodation with memories that will last a lifetime.

Tour Questions

It is a full-day tour from Cape Town. The exact timing depends on traffic, weather, time spent at Cape Point and how long you want at Boulders Beach.

Boulders Beach has a resident African penguin colony, so sightings are very likely. Numbers and behaviour vary naturally through the year.

Yes, it can close in heavy wind, rain or rockfall conditions. If that happens, your guide will use the best available route and keep the day moving smoothly.

We usually collect from hotels and guesthouses in central Cape Town and nearby areas. If you are staying further out, we will confirm the most practical pickup point when you enquire.
